He has achieved his masters in pulmonary medicine from one of the best pulmonary medicine departments in the country, at Sawai Man Singh Medical College, Jaipur.

He further trained in Interventional Bronchoscopy at Cape Town, South Africa under the able guidance of world-renowned bronchoscopist, the late Prof. C.T. Bolliger.
He has also worked as an Assistant Professor in the Pulmonary Medicine departments at KEM Hospital & Sion Hospital at Mumbai.
A research enthusiast, Dr Thakkar frequently publishes his scientific work in reputed national and international journals.
